On The Brink

"OK, so these aren't working", I thought to myself as I lay in a cold dark room (the cool air helped to alleviate the burning). All I could hear was the chatter of my family downstairs and the birdsong outside my sister's bedroom window. At this point, I was living with my mum and dad in Ipswich.

Then the darkest moment of my life came. I didn't want to be here anymore. The dark thoughts were louder than ever and I could see no way of living. At that very moment, my mum came in the room and saved me. She pulled the duvet off me and with a sternness in her voice I hadn't heard very often, demanded "come on, this is enough, get yourself out of bed now!"

This was what brought me back from the brink. I got myself out of bed, went downstairs and watched television. At that point I felt some emotion. I saw the pain that I was causing my family and I decided that I was going to get better and nothing was going to stop me.
