How It All Began

My skin has always been very sensitive and acne-prone. Over the years I tried pretty much every single anti-spot treatment on the market. Back in November 2008, I tried a new product that claimed to make skin smooth and even. "Brilliant" I thought, i'll give it a go. What could possibly go wrong? Evidently a lot as I suffered an acute allergic reaction which led to my skin becoming blotchy, inflamed and scaly; classic symptoms of Seborrheic Dermatitis. My doctor prescribed me Daktacort which I applied every day for near enough 2 years. My skin was fine and I had no idea of the damage the cream was beginning to cause.

In 2010, 3 months before my wedding day, I tried another new product. To this day, I still have no clue what possessed me to do this. I had a tube of Daktacort though for back-up so if anything were to go awry, I had it to fall back on, right? Wrong! My skin reacted so badly, the doctor prescribed me Eumovate (a slightly stronger concoction). Within a day, my skin was back to normal. "Phew, what a relief!", my skin would hopefully be ok for my wedding day.

In August 2010, I was prescribed an even stronger version of steroid cream called Trimovate as the Eumovate was no longer keeping the Sebhorric Dermatitis at bay. I began to worry about the effect this was having on my skin but these thoughts were overshadowed by my lovely smooth skin. I did take the time to read the warnings and I was aware that steroid creams were not recommended for long-term use but my skin was already dependent on it and I had no idea. The Trimovate seemed to be working and I got on with  my life.
